Nature journaling can help us be more mindful about how we interact with the natural world. This class is for adults interested in building relationships with nature through careful observation and recording of those observations. Spring is an excellent season to begin or continue a nature journaling practice to get into a process of slowing down and witnessing nature’s emerging plants and animals. Gather as a group at Belwin's Wetlands Center for warm-up activities, then walk trails near wetlands and forest to practice nature journaling. Bring a journal and writing utensils (e.g., pens, pencils, paints) to record your observations and dress appropriately to be outside.
Activity Rating: 3~ Walking moderate distances with some steps and/or stairs and standing.
This course is lead by Emily Hayne
Emily has a background in environmental education teaching pre-K to high school students in forests, prairies, and wetlands throughout the Midwest. During graduate school Emily studied the relationship between people, nature, and place and the well-being outcomes of nature journaling. Emily enjoys creating meaningful experiences outdoors that inspire curiosity and connect people to nature.
