Belwin Conservancy thrives in large part thanks to a dedicated community of supporters. Whether an annual gift or a bequest, there are many ways to help Belwin sustain our work of restoring native habitats and connecting people to nature. EMPLOYER MATCHING GIFTS
You can double — or even triple — the impact of your donation to Belwin Conservancy with a matching gift from your employer. Employer matching gifts are a simple way to maximize your donation to Belwin.
Matching your donation is easy! Just contact your human resources or business office to see if they match employees’ charitable giving and to find out what information you will need. Most often, there is a brief form to fill out, requiring our tax identification number.
Belwin’s tax ID number (EIN) is 41-0967891. Belwin Conservancy is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
GIFTS OF STOCK
Belwin Conservancy accepts gifts of stock, which we sell immediately in order to support our work. Donors often obtain significant tax benefits by donating stock because under the current tax laws, you can avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of donated stock, and are entitled to a tax deduction of the full fair market value of the gift. We recommend that you consult a tax professional for specific advice about your situation.
In accordance with IRS regulations, you will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes listing the number of shares donated and the value of the stock as of the date the shares are received in our account.
How to Transfer Stock to Belwin Conservancy

Your stockbroker can directly transfer your stock gift to Belwin Conservancy’s account with the following information:
Name: Morgan Stanley
Account Name: Belwin Conservancy
Account Number: 319075311
Depository Trust Number (aka DTC#): 0015
Belwin Conservancy’s EIN number: 41-0967891
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a philanthropic giving vehicle that provides an immediate tax benefit to you, and allows you to grant funds to charities of your choice. Think of it as a charitable savings account — you put money in the DAF, any potential growth is tax-free, and then you can recommend where your assets go in the form of grants. Gifts given through DAFs are essential to Belwin’s work, and have a lasting impact on our region’s ecosystems and our community’s well being.
How to support Belwin through your DAF
Contact your sponsoring financial or community foundation to recommend a grant to Belwin. Checks should be made out to Belwin Conservancy and mailed to:
1553 Stagecoach Trail S.
Afton, MN 55001
Belwin Conservancy’s EIN number is: 41-0967891
You may also name Belwin Conservancy as the beneficiary of the fund during your estate and legacy planning.
Planned gifts can be made through wills and trusts, but also include real estate gifts, charitable annuities, or making Belwin the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan. They are a wonderful, surprisingly flexible way to express your commitment to the health of our region, and can often provide tax benefits as well. If you plan on including Belwin Conservancy in your will or other legacy giving, please contact us and let us know. We would love to show you our gratitude.
CHARITABLE IRA DISTRIBUTIONS
In lieu of a Required Minimum Distribution, consider a charitable distribution from your IRA directly to Belwin Conservancy. It is an easy, tax-smart way to maximize your gift and have a larger impact. To take advantage of this special opportunity, contact your IRA administrator today.
LAND AND EASEMENTS
One of Belwin Conservancy’s primary missions is to protect land for our future generations. A gift of land or a conservation easement is perhaps the most direct way of supporting our organization. Due to our status as a nonprofit, land donations can have significant tax benefits. If you are considering a gift of land or an easement, we would like to discuss your goals and the details of your property.
