Belwin Education Site, Hilltop Classroom
Cost: $5 Suggested Donation

Join Belwin Conservancy, Washington Conservation District, Minnesota DNR, and Washington County Master Gardeners for a walk in the woods during this fun, interactive workshop about caring for trees and woodlands. The workshop will start with a short introductory presentation inside the Hilltop Classroom. Afterwards, participants will divide into two smaller groups to learn more about tree care and woodland management.

Topics will include:

  • Basic tree identification
  • What's stressing your tree? Pests, diseases, drought, and other challenges
  • Managing buckthorn, garlic mustard, and other invasive species
  • Supporting birds and wildlife.

If we're lucky, we hope to find some spring wildflowers while out on the trails as well.

Meet at the Education Site, Hilltop Classroom: 1553 Stagecoach Trail S., Afton, MN 55001. This workshop will include indoor and outdoor components. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, as well as bug spray and sunscreen, and bring a water bottle. Light refreshments will be provided. This will be led by representatives from Belwin Conservancy (Lynette Anderson), Washington Conservation District (Tara Kelly, Elissa Thompson and Angie Hong), Minnesota DNR (Madisson Masucci), and Master Gardener Tree Squad (Marge Sagstetter, Anna Barker, Paul Richtman, and Chris Bremer).
