On Saturday, February 3th, from 5 to 7 pm, Belwin Conservancy will host Midwinter Family Fun. This night of free outdoor activities features hikes through the snow guided by Belwin naturalists, stargazing, and s’mores around campfires. The event is free and will take place at the Hilltop Classroom at the Education Site.
Children’s education will be front and center this year, with Jenny Hanlon of Stillwater Early Childhood Family Education leading a guided hike for children under 5 at 5:45 pm. In addition, representatives from the University of Minnesota’s “Bugs Below Zero” team will be leading activities throughout the evening. For those who want to stargaze, volunteers from the Minnesota Astronomical Society will be available to help guests see the night sky at the Joseph J. Casby Observatory.
Guided hikes for adults will be available every half hour starting at 5 pm throughout the evening. Feel free to bring a sled or carrier for your child if they are likely to get tired from walking. We look forward to seeing you for a fun night out in nature!
