This week, our hearts are heavy, as our community endures another painful racial reckoning. We are heartbroken for the loss of Daunte Wright. We are outraged at the persistence of the patterns of oppression that his senseless death so cruelly laid bare. Whether we realize it or not, these systems of oppression diminish us all.

We will continue to search for the right words, to advocate for a more just world, and to explore the intersection between conservation and racial justice. But for today, we pause, and we say his name: Daunte Wright. His life matters. All Black lives matter.
